Assignment 7: Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl

I learned that life in this colony were this little girl was growing up was all about slave owning. The little girl did not know that she was a slave, but she knew that her father was a worker. She talked about how he would go to other plantations and be the working leader. Also I learned that not all people were slaves. Like her grandmother who was free. There were all color slaves in this, because she talked about how light skinned her mother and father were.

What surprised me most about what I read was that most children didn’t know they were someone else merchandise. The way I knew this is because she didn’t know that she was a slave. So it was very obvious that other children didn’t know that they were slaves as well.

Back in those days people were slaves and they had to work in farms. People trade these African American’s for work. This was not likely. Today people don’t trade people for any thing and also there are not any slave owners their aren’t even slaves today. African’s back then were scared to look the white man in the face. Most of these slaves were not paid to work in plantations. Today in like there are a lot of African American owners throughout the world. As well as people have to get paid to work.
